I've bought (and returned) a number of percolators from Amazon because they were built poorly or malfunctioned and didn't brew the coffee thoroughly. I tried this Mixpresso as my last try at percolator coffee before giving up and going back to K-Cups.
This percolator (the 8 cup model) is built like the old style percolators of the '60's (of course it's safer and more waterproof) and is simple to operate.
Since all I had handy was very fine ground (almost Expresso-ground) Cafe Bustelo coffee, I tried to make 4 cups of that. Without the paper filter, the Cafe Bustelo would have gone through the metal basket holes. I therefore used a supplemental paper fold-over coffee filter in the coffee basket. I put in two tablespoons of Cafe Bustelo and filled the water to the 4 Cup line.
As the coffee brewed, the fragrance of the brewing coffee filled the house (just as I remember it when my father brewed coffee in our old West Bend percolator in the 1960's) and made the whole "coffee experience" better than I've ever had it during my adult life. The sound of the percolating coffee, the smell of the percolating coffee, was an incredible nostalgic experience unmatched by the Keurig coffeemaker that I've been using for the past 5 years.
The ease of cleaning (just throw all the pieces except the percolator into the dishwasher and clean the percolator every month or so with a little vinegar to descale it in hard-water areas) is also a tremendous feature of percolator coffeemakers.
The robust taste of the pot of Cafe Bustelo that I made was stronger and more robust than I've had using K-cups. The smell of the percolated coffee persisted and was a wonderfully nostalgic experience.
The build quality of the Mixpresso was fabulous. Rugged and made with excellent components. You don't need Starbucks, you can recreate the coffeehouse in your kitchen with this percolator!
Like many of you, I have searched for a percolator that is 100% stainless steel. Reading the reviews of this one, some said it was stainless; some said it was not, and so on. The box states that it is stainless steel. It appears to be stainless steel, except that it is possible that the bolt and well in the bottom (see the picture) are aluminum. I am only judging by the way it feels to the touch and the look of it. Someone said they thought the piece at the top was plastic and not glass. Just feeling of it is hard to tell. Short of actually hitting it on something hard to see if it breaks (well, no!), I tapped it on my teeth, and it is glass. As far as the coffee itself, it makes a good hot cup of coffee. I have tried the Farberware percolator, but it would stop "perking" too soon, and the coffee would be more like strong tea. Just as a disclaimer, I was using the Farberware 2-4 cup pot. I like this Mixpresso percolator because I can make only four cups, and it still turns out great. Also, the brand and type of coffee used has a profound effect on the taste. I have been using Gevalia coffee. All-in-all, I have been very pleased with the Mixpresso. I hope this review helps you as you search for a good cup of coffee!
Like so many others my farberware pot from 25 years ago gave out. I switch to a Keurig since I only drink one cup a day. I immediately hated the lukewarm coffee, no matter what coffee I used it just never tasted as good as a percolator. I tried Presto and another farberware and was disappointed in both. things are made so cheaply these days. Those had to be returned after breaking with 2 weeks. I tried the mixpresso mainly because of the reviews. I received it today it's well-made with a glass perc which is nice. coffee is hot and delicious just like it use to be. The price was also awesome in comparison. Hope it lasts longer than 2 weeks. It's worth giving it a try! Oh and it takes 12 mins for a full pot.

Well it arrived promptly. Seems to be durable. One thing about it i don't like. The most important thing of all. It doesn't heat my coffee up not enough. I'm very bummed about it. Hot coffee is very important. Luke warm is about as far as it gets. I've used it for 4 days now and it just isn't working out. I'm disappointed to say the least.

I have to find a coarser grind coffee for my percolator. Also I'm going to look for filters so I can use the coffee that I have. I like this percolator very much.
I received the Mixpresso Electric Coffee Percolator the afternoon of the same day I ordered it, (ordered yesterday.) I didn't have a chance to actually use the percolator until this morning and haven't yet tried to it. I'm drinking the first cup of percolated coffee as I write this, and can say I'm very satisfied as to the operation and end results of the percolated coffee. I gave it the best 'star' rating possible for 'flavor' and 'temperature control'. However, I haven't yet cleaned the percolator after using it for the first time to know how easy (or not) it is to clean it..... so I can't rate the ease of cleaning it after use at this time. But it does percolate the coffee well and with ease, resulting in the desired satisfaction for a cup of rich coffee expected. I would recommend this product to others and expect (and hope) the cleaning of the percolator will be just as easy and satisfactory as the high ratings I've given the percolator for the 'flavor' and 'temperature control, as' I've assigned in those areas.
This pot makes amazing coffee! It’s actually replacing my Keurig brewer. I gave up fast coffee for great tasting coffee. I gave 4 instead of 5 stars because it is NOT 100% stainless steel. The nut on the bottom of the pot where the filter stem sits is aluminum. I was really hoping it was stainless, but the coffee brewed is fantastic. Use good coffee. I recommend buying whole bean and grinding per pot . Drip grind is too fine. I’ve been grinding my own coffee for 20+ years. I use the Mr. Coffee Burr Mill Grinder. It adjusts from course grind (percolator) to fine grind(espresso). Freshly ground coffee just tastes better. Also, this pot measures coffee in 5 oz cups which is industry standard. 6 cups is 30oz of water, not 48oz.
Review update: Bought Sep 29 and return period has since expired. Now I have rust appearing inside the bottom of the pot. Reached out to Mixpresso and they gave me an email to reply showing my video and pic which was then returned back to me as no such address. I would not buy this again and hope to have my money refunded due to poor quality and now unusable. Sad, because I really liked it (see below).
Amazingly easy to use... 6 cups ready in 6 mins. Love the hot coffee and it stays hot for refills and I enjoy watching it perc with pretty glass knob. One thing I am using is $store filters as I found sometimes the grounds were in my coffee.
I have shelved my Tassimo and Keurig in favour of the old fashion way of brewing hot coffee I grew up with and electric percs are very easy to use.
I bought this for my husband for Christmas, after 29+ together, what do you get each other for Christmas? He loves coffee and we were using a Keurig. The coffee this Perk makes is way beyond what we expected! We have used fresh ground coffee beans and even MacDonald's Coffee grounds taste that much better. Worth every penny!
