I will start out as this hood looks amazing. It is well built and a quality product. As with most quality products it is not overly heavy, but has some good weight to it. If you plan on installing this by your self over a weekend, make sure you have a helper. You will NOT be able to do this by your self. I ended up using 3 people: one on each side to assist in getting the mounting bars over the mounting plate and one person to jack up the hood using our third hand (third hand is just a long arm with a jack so we did not have to try and lift it while mounting).
Also, make sure that the mounting bracket is level (I had to take mine down because it was hanging crooked because my ceiling is crooked). There is no leveling feature on the mounting plate. you have to use spacers to level it.
Another suggestion is to make sure you have at least 4 to 8 inches of space between the sleeve and the ceiling. This means you will need to use the additional mounting arms (everything is supplied which is great!). I wanted mine as high as possible to give me a less obstructed view. Installing the unit high combined with my low ceiling height, I only left myself about 2" to do the hook ups (luckily I have an attic and was able to do most in the attic) and raise the inner sleeve to the mounting plate.
The LED lights are great. the display is very cool. And, the suctions is amazing! We were tossing papers under it and it would suck them up to the grates. With suction, obviously there is noise. This is louder than my bathroom fans when on high. obviously when you lower the speed of the fan you lower the noise.
Really only 1 item of concern: my fan sounds like there is a paper (or something) in it. When you turn it on it reminds me when I was young and would tie a baseball (or playing card) to my bike so it will hit the spokes and making a clicking sound. It was pretty cool on my bike, but not so cool on the range hood in my house.
They do have well written instructions, and trouble shooting suggestions. But they do not address this concern. This extra work is the only reason I am giving this a 3 star rating.
This hood is very nice and has great power. It's also quite noisy. Adding a voltage regulator and a switch to the fan (you can see the wire) would allow infinite adjustment of speed at any power setting. You don't need to be unable to hear yourself talk while boiling water, so consider that little add on. I'll be doing this. (yes it will void the warranty but will save my hearing.) This hood is as loud as a small jet.
It is no easy task to install. Get a pro to do it. Paid almost as much for the install as the hood. Instructions could be better.
Still - good value and built well.
This unit was brought in to replace an older Braun unit and it does not disappoint. I'm so glad i moved forward with this Amazon purchase. Arrived in Hawaii several days early in perfect condition. Took a bit to install as I am an Amateur but after watching a few Youtube videos I was able to install it perfectly. When hung correctly this unit was very solid. Mine was ducted to the roof and easily connected to the present duct tube. The quality is perfect and the LED lighting spectacular. The control panel is designed very well. Then fan is very strong and slightly loud on the high setting and very quiet on the lower settings. I would not change a thing, this unit has become the focal point of our kitchen and the efficiency of the unit is perfect - Beautiful LED light and super strong suction.
The Cosmo Kitchen Ceiling Island Mount Range Hood is the most noticeable object in the kitchen. It is very
attractive, causes lots of comments, it is quiet, and has very nice features. The features are Soft Touch Controls on the front of the hood: a Timer Button, a Light Button, a Fan Speed Button, and a Power Button. All are very easy to use. As for installation, I had my contractor install it. Before installing, he had a few questions. He called Cosmo and immediately got to talk to a real knowledgeable Cosmo representative. This representative clearly conveyed answers to my contractor's questions. My contractor was quite impressed with the prompt service and said he had never received such quality service from a company (he works with all type of companies with his
projects). Using the fan on low is very adequate for my needs. The high on the fan is quite remarkable and
has a strong updraft power. I am very happy with this purchase and I highly recommend it to anyone who is
looking for an attractive, very useful island mount range hood This is the one to buy!!!
Will update after I see if the warranty provides replacement parts. Very very nice looking. Very good lighting of cooking area. Very noisy on high speed. Installation took 2 plus hours by a contractor. Motor went to a grinding noise during shut off on final use. Working with the manufacturer on warranty. Update After providing proof of purchase and a video with sound a replacement motor was shipped to us. Motor replacement requires considerable disassembly. There was a loose piece of metal in the first motor. It now works fine albeit noisy in my view and I need to duck my head to when walking around it. Sure looks nice though. I will upgrade my rating to 3 stars.

The product is solid and looks great. Unfortunately we mis measured and had a beam in the way of the hood vent. Our contractor had to modify the vent, and will trim it out. We looked at buying a similar product from Ikea that was $300 more. Glad we went with this product. Love IT
I would say it is an interesting journey. In fact there are limited options for island fume hood, I mean at this price range. It is not an easy decision to buy this kinda appliance on Amazon, since we would be on ourselves without onsite support.
Unfortunately the machine was broken and it did not function well. No suck power and stopped by itself after 10 minutes running. Luckily Cosmo has great customer service and helped us trouble shooting. At the end we need to take the machine down and install the new motor sent by Cosmo, of course for free.
Now it works pretty great with good sucking power. Love the style and the price for sure. Strongly recommended!
