I bought this because I'd recently purchased both a GE dishwasher and range and wanted a stainless hood to go with them. It matched perfectly with the GE standard color and look! (Each company can have slightly different shadings, etc.) I must say that, at the highest speed, the fan is very noisy but I really don't use that one. The variable speed is a nice touch that I hadn't seen before, and the fan is effective when running. Overall, I really do love it! Thank you for the very good shipping as well.
Other reviews said the fan was extremely noisy. They are right. I thought the thing was going to vibrate right off the cabinetry. But it sure vacuums up the odors associated with cooking . It is also made on the cheap and I have the feeling it won't last more than two or three years. The filter is too thin to be effective and has a plastic latch which is too close the incandescent light bulb that I anticipate will fail rapidly. The switches for the light and fan have a feel of an Etch-a-Sketch and designed to fail. Otherwise it does work and is a low cost alternative to mega buck range hoods.
In prior remarks people said this unit is too loud. We have no problem with it. Love the presentation. Great buy for our kitchen.
I admit, I ordered the wrong size. I paid $126.00 for my hood and they refunded me $83.00!!! They charge a 20% restocking fee, then said the difference was the shipping costs, which they insisted on sending me their label. I should have asked what the shipping charge would be, I could have sent it Priority Mail cheaper. Just please be very aware, if you have to send it back, you are going to get "tapped". Also the hood pictured was not what I received, it is a minor thing but the plate where the switches are should have been a light gray, as pictured, But it was black. I am not happy at all, and I would not use them again.
