Purchased this 2 weeks ago. I just love it. Has 3 speeds, a light, 2 aluminum grease filters and a granular carbon round filter. Is low profile which is also a nice feature. You change out the carbon filter every 6 months or based on cooking. The aluminum filters can be put in dishwasher or hand washed. Let's just say this works. We live in a rental and the previous hood was a Broan 24 inch because my stove is 24 inches so needlessly to say there was space on either side of hood. This thing was basically a glorified light bulb. It sucked nothing out in the way of grease, smoke, etc. Every time I cooked the grease when on the walls, window, pictures etc. My husband and I did spring cleaning and spent a considerable time on cleaning grease. Frankly I was sick of it and now I'm very pleased with this hood. I took measurements and it said this one was 29.5 inches wide as you can see in photo we have a window with molding so I had to be exact. Many of them are in various finished widths from 29.5 up to 30 inches. That makes a difference when you trying to put in a confined space. Needless to say this worked. In order to evacuate smoke and grease you need to have a higher CFM and this one is 250 cfm. We have it recirculating since my landlord would have to approve having it vented out, but for now it works beautifully. Do your homework and look at the specs at the Cosmo web site. My husband and I installed this ourselves and had never done one previously. Look at a YouTube video. Very helpful in that regard. All I can say is that I cook multiple things on the stove and use the highest speed and you can see everything going up to filters and away from the rest of the kitchen. The only downside would be the white led lights, looking into changing out since I have soft white led under cabinet. Other than that it is perfect and low maintenance. Remember nothing is perfect. I would not hesitate to purchase again if I moved because this is outstanding and at a great price to boot. Also has a 5 year warranty and USA customer service.
This is a nice looking unit. It is simple in design. It is much more quiet than a Whirlpool microwave- fan unit I have in another house. This unit can be vented to the outside via top or rear. The lights are LED which is a big plus. I would buy this again and I highly recommend the unit.
I got this to replace an incorrectly installed hood in our house. Since we need a ductless option, the options are fairly limited. I saw this one and thought I'd take a chance. Bad idea. First thing I notice when I took it out of the box, they changed this one to 3 prong. Most "permanent" fixtures in a house are hard wired, not plugged in (unless you buy everything from Ikea). So, seeing that I don't have an outlet directly above my cooktop, I had to go to HomeDepot to find a solution. Found it, shouldn't have had to look for it, but I found a fix.

So, looking at the hood, I see that they don't include the filter...unlike what people in the comment/question section said that theirs did include a filter. OK, wonderful, now off to order a filter since they're not a common item for this brand. 4 days later a filter arrives, yay me, more money spent.

So, I look at the hood as I'm getting ready to install. I see that the 3 prong plug sticks outside the back side...now I don't know what everyone else's kitchens look like, but my hood needs to sit against the wall on the back side, which it can't because they have a super thick plug hanging out the back side, terrible design. I had to get my tools, drill some holes big enough to get my jigsaw blade in so I can cut a hole large enough to wind the plug back into the hood itself so it can "almost" be properly installed flush, which it can't be flush because the cord still sticks out the back. Another pain in the rear for this thing.

I finally get it installed, it's looks "decent". I'm wanting to try it out, so I press the light button. Seemingly nothing happens so I look at the lights, yep, they're on, but they're so faint I can't see the lighting on the cooktop. WONDERFUL. The lights are about half as dim as my daughter's old night light that she had when she was 3. So I stand at the cooktop with the "lights" on and all I can see are shadows because the main lighting in my kitchen are MUCH brighter than those on the hood. What exactly is the purpose in putting lights on this thing if they're so dim that the DO NOT ILLUMINATE ANYTHING? Side question, can these be replaced in any way? Like, with something that doesn't just "glow", but actually lights up?

So, whatever, I'm stuck with the thing now since I had to physically alter the design for it to be used. I turn on the fan to see how strong/loud it is. Cool, it seems to be working decently. But wait, there's more, a few seconds later, it's rattling and vibrating, it's not the outside frame, it's not the flimsy and cheap outside "filters", so I remove those and look inside, it's something inside where the actual motor is. I don't know what to do about that now. I guess I can take the entire thing apart and see what piece is rattling against the thin aluminum of the frame or I can suck it up and loathe the item for a while until it gets to a point that I buy a new one, replace this one and take it out back and beat it with a baseball bat.

Edit: it's not vibrating as much now, not sure when I did but after messing with it a little it seems to be ok now on that issue. Added a video to show that it's not doing anything about the smoke, etc. while venting.
you will never find a better range hood for this amount of money. people who are complaining about the lights not being bright need to invest in better kitchen lighting or need to get their eyes checked. the included lighting works fine for HELPING to illuminate the stove top while cooking. the fan is fairly quiet although not silent. mounts well and seems sturdy enough. you can either have it vent out the back or up top. the only stupid thing i found was the electrical comes out the top and cant be relocated unless you are handy. i used a stepper bit and punched a hole through the back for it and had a rubber gromet that worked. why would they make it so you can mount it under a cabinet then have the electrical only come out the top?! dumb, but after my drill was done with it, everything mounted up nice. all in all well worth the money and would buy it again instantly.
I got everything assembled to find out that the exhaust was a proprietary 2x9.5'' rectangle (probably for ease of manufacturing), so an adapter was necessary. The local hardware store didn't have it, so I had to make one. Once that and the electrical wiring was done (no plug was included), I got the guy running. The fan was quite loud and didn't offer good ventilation, I thought it was because I hadn't installed the aluminum filters only to find out they weren't included or forgotten. Yikes, all that hard work for a weak fan with a proprietary design with missing parts.
