I was getting my kitchen redone after a flood under the dishwasher and had no idea I would be able to add new appliances with the budget I had. This top looks beautiful and functions well. Electric ignition and 5 different size burners. Clean up is easy install was a breeze just plug into outlet and connect gas line. (It's a build in so you'll need the cut out too...) Can't beat the price and so far so good!
The product arrived and it is beautiful but appears to be popular only on Amazon. I have 2 main challenges with it and I am unable to find resources on the internet to fix them. Empava footprint online is almost non existence and I did not get a response from the email on their website.
The first issue I had was that you have to hold the knob down for about 15 seconds before the flame stays otherwise it goes off. I had assumed it was an issue with the thermo-couple but this occurs in all 5 burners. The second issue is the simmer setting; there is no noticeable change from high flame to low flame. I understand this is a common issue when the orifice is changed from NG to LPG; but other brands of cookers have online resources for adjustment of the setting!!
Overall, I like the stove top. It does seem to stay cleaner than a glass top as stuff doesn't stick to it. The grates are easier to clean than any I have owned before. At first I thought the knobs could not be removed for cleaning but they are just tight and do require some pulling to remove them. This top will scratch but with stainless that would be expected. You can find something not to like about any cooktop. I previously had a glass cooktop, gas, that I was constantly using a razor blade to scrape away the gunk around the burners. It got broken during a remodel while installing a new vent-a-hood. I do not regret this purchase.
Amazing Value. I can't believe it. My wife loves it. The high burners make it so pots don't interfere with the knobs. Cleans real easy.

Wonderful after not being able to cook for 3 months, I am happy I went with this instead of trying to save up for the more expensive brands name. We will see, they say you have to replace stove tops every 5 years, I definitely not going to waste 1200 dollars every 5 years.
5 burners. Low, medium, high. I have zero complaints. Looks good in my island. I have no complaints.
Great spacing between the burners, allows you to use a very large pot in the middle and still use the other burners.
This product doesn't contain any documentation stating its certified to install in USA with ANSI or CSA in Canada. When asked the owners failed to provide any info supporting their claim it was legal in the states. The product doesn't have a gas regulator either so you have to purchase that separately. Do not install without one. (ie- straight to gas line) They provide no photos of the fittings pre-sale either and a very dangerous Italian rubber gas line "push on" style one is included. If you don't know what you are doing, its dangerous. If its a new install, your gas fitter will need to get a permit. I was replacing an old unit so it was easier b/c all I needed was a hose and fittings. My gas fitter legally couldn't do it for me because a permit is required and you can't get one without SA number. [...] So unless you are comfortable DIY'r, give this one a miss. This product comes in $700 cheaper than Jenn-Air and Sears cooktops. Now I know why. The product itself is very pleasing to the eye and easy to clean. I like the 5 burner layout. However the ignitors take a REALLY long time to get burners to stay lit. The stainless skin is pretty thin and will probably dent if I drop a spoon on it or something. It takes a hold down of the knobs of about 10 seconds. The product shipped quickly and the seller adequately answered my questions regarding the new status of his store in Canada. They also offered to take it back if i was concerned about lack of certification. So its my choice to install it. For me this is a temporary solution for one year until a reno. So for a year, I can live with it. My old Jenn-Airr ran circles around this thing in terms of parts and overall quality.
