I was very excited to set this up and get it going. Upon opening the box I noticed there was damage to the stove top, but it was not that huge so I didn't care too much, then I notice that the fittings I need are not in the box. After going to almost every major hardware store, I still was not able to find the fittings needed and had to contact Amazon two times and both times they tried to contact RAMBLEWOOD Manufacturer and did not get a response. I don't usually write too many reviews on here but this is bad customer support on RAMBLEWOODS end. I have bought many propane appliances and never had an issue hooking up to a propane tank until I bought this one. The manual does not state anything and the reviews on here are all different. After doing a little bit more research with the help of Amazon it seems that the missing part that's needed is a female 1/2 npt to 3/8ths npt which is the standard size for the majority of propane appliances, but this item WAS NOT included as stated in other reviews. I would not recommend this stove to anyone unless they're experienced with gas line fittings/connections and the only way my 1 star review will change is if i get reimbursed for the damage and missing fittings from RAMBLEWOOD and not AMAZON because this is NOT Amazon's fault. I was looking to purchase the electric one RAMBLEWOOD sells and I am so glad I didn't purchase both at the same time, I purchased the propane version first to see if the company was worthy of almost $300 more and from what it looks like, it's not. Want a better review? Reimburse me for the damaged product and get me the correct fitting and then we can talk...
4 to 5 stars. The gas connection is sturdy if connecting a straight line connection. But when using an elbow, there's too much torque at the bend, which can ratchet around the fitting, loosening the connection. I think repeated expansion/contraction cycling from heating/cooling at this junction will loosen the connection over time. Mine leaked from the start, ("professionally" installed by gas company because I needed the permit and record to comply with state law and for insurance; I didn't even bother calling them back, instead doing the work the right way myself). When moving the flexible gas line slightly a few times while securing it underneath, this movement was enough to loosen the elbow, even after tightening the connection tightly. I built a bracket to hold the entire elbow and gas line in one place, with everything tightened up. No leaks and very secure underneath. Up top at the countertop, the closed foam strips used under the cooktop edges, at countertop, are good for padding. Over time, liquids could soak into the foam stripping, leaving bacteria. So, after securing the cooktop in place, I added a small bead of silicone seal all around the cooktop, to keep liquids from seeping under it and into the closed foam seal.Nice cooktop, heats food with very little waste heat. For lighting burners, the approx. 4 seconds holding down control knob while safety components heat up is easy once I got used to it. Most gas ignition systems have this wait nowadays, for flame out safety protection. Both burners needed adjustment to lower the flame levels at lowest setting. An adjustment screw for this is inside the stem of each control pod. After pulling the knob up and off, the small access hole is right at the top of the stem. You will need a long thin flat head screwdriver to insert down the shaft to the screw. you can see the small screw head down there if you shine a small flashlight light point and use a magnifying glass to look. Remember position of screw, then insert screwdriver oriented same direction and connect with screw. You will feel the fit when screwdriver is seated. Turning clockwise reduces flame size, counterclockwise increases it. Don't push down hard as you turn screw, as this will reduce flame size temporarily until you release pressure. For a screwdriver, I bought a Master Mechanic 3/32 screwdriver at True Value Hardware, and ground down the screwdriver shank until it fit easily into the control stem hole. Shank should be 2 inches long to reach bottom. EXCELLENT customer service. I emailed asking if the cooktop can be lit with a match or lighter, if power outage (Yes, you can light it with a match when power is out). Emailed on a Friday late. Next day, Saturday, a rep. called me at home and left a detailed explanation message, gave his direct line phone number to call with any further questions. I'm very happy with this cooktop and the company.
The 1/2" fitting that connects this stove to your gas line is a total pain in the neck, and requires a special elbow fitting that you cannot get anywhere else except from the manufacturer. The elbow fitting is made of extremely cheap material and breaks easily if you're not careful.
The manufacturer was very nice and sent me some replacement elbows free of charge. This review however is for the product not the company. I would not recommend this stove to anyone.
Bought in 2013 for an Airstream restoration, just got around to connecting it. Lost the regulator and elbow plumbing. Service was outstanding. They sent me the regulator, and three connecting elbows (two spares). No charge. Got the parts in 2 days. Construction is solid, top shelf quality. Will update this review when it gets fired up. Woods used: western red cedar, solid 3/8 Brazilian cherry floors, american oak, red oak, zebra,Birdseye counter tops.
I purchased the product for use in a mobile trailer which I constructed myself. It came with a good template for accurate fit into the counter top, and it is well made. It came very well packaged and protected. It works well and has a good range of flame. The two sizes of burners cover most needs. Its appearance is very, very good. As with any gas appliance, a buyer should first check to see that ignition occurs almost immediately, and the spark does this, but spark should always be present before considering the installation to be complete. I think one aspect should have been addressed: if this product is to be used with propane from a high pressure tank, it should have been noted that a pressure regulator with hose, and probably a brass hose adaptor needs to be purchased. The adaptor fits between the hose and the unit's gas inlet. I bought a regulator / hose unit and also a brass adaptor at a Menards store. It takes a while to determine which of the many adaptors you need for the threads of the regulator and the unit's inlet pipe. Take it with you so you can check these things in the store. Menards had everything.

I hook it up to a 15lb LP tank, so I use off the shelf regulator for a BBQ Grill and a 10ft hose to get going. It took me all of 10 minutes to get the thing setup and powered on. I've never owned a gas cooktop before -- This thing RULES. Once you let it run for a few minutes to bleed the air out of the lines, the flame is super consistent and predictable. I love this thing.
