I just received my new range hood and have attached a picture from under the hood, as this is not on the web site!!
So my old venlline overhead range fan motor in my mobile home went out and I decided I’d replace the whole thing because get this . The old 1960 fan motor was 50.00! This whole brand new range was 50.00! Why replace just the motor in my old one and end up not being the motor or something else messing up on it shortly after . Why not just get a brand spanking new one for the same price of the old motor . Come on now . And I installed it myself!! I Honestly think installing this new unit was a lot easier than replacing that old fan motor would have been. This product saved me a ton of money . It’s way better than that old one too. Win win win ! You can’t loose with this thing . My vent size was a bit off but I just took some cardboard and cut it like a gasket to keep the vacuum right. Wiring was easy just make sure to flip the correct circuit breakers off. Only hard part about it was trying to start the screws and hold it up at the same time . Get someone to help you with that part.
Exactly what I needed to replace the broken 40 year old hood fan in my tired old kitchen. This thing was seriously easy to install. Instructions were clear where needed, not that we really needed them as the installation was pretty self explanatory IMHO. Take out the old hood and inspect what you need [if you need anything additional] to install the new hood. Our ductwork was rectangular just like the damper on this fan so it went up seamlessly with some new metal ductwork tape. Switching over the wiring was simple. Fixating the hood in place took the two of us [because I wanted it just right], but within a few minutes it was up. Power turned back on and we were in business. Our kitchen is seriously falling apart, but I'm not in the market to overhaul the whole thing just yet. In the meantime this was an economical fix for a broken fan and it looks fabulous. This thing is quieter than the old one I took out and boy oh boy it has way more power than the old one too; I mean I knew the old one was dying, but I didn't realize exactly how bad it was otherwise I would have replaced it years ago before it up and quit on me. If this new one lasts until I get around to remodeling my kitchen then I definitely got my money's worth on this purchase. I'd recommend this product.
we are regular people probably just like you out there are, not rich! but happy. i purchased this hood because the old one we had to twist the bulb on to use it. this is a nice hood, fan works on both settings has a good light, ahh no more twisting needed!! :). it`s fine as everything else is becoming sort of inferior compared to the past, that`s business!!!!!. what i will do to it is with white silicone caulking I'll run a bead on the inside joints just to better seal them. ours is vented outside and i was willing to just not hook that up and use the recirculated through filter in house. low and behold the vent is rectangle just like ours. it was kind of easy to set up after i used four of the winged mounts ( the ones that spring open inside the hole) very securely. it looks good and will clean easier than the old one due to a smooth (not pebbly) surface. i find amazon really amazing! easy to purchase and everything one needs at one location. how fortunate are we...

If you go to Broan or anyone else's website under this model number it states VENTED installation only.
Bought this to put up temporarily at a clients home while the wood hood was getting its liner fabricated, and ended up with a product I can't use. My client is pissed, as am I. DO NOT go by the description it is not correct.

Broan Economy 40000 Series 30" Under Cabinet Ducted Range Hoods feature a two-speed fan, a rocker-type fan and light control, and a polymeric blade and light lens. These range hoods are 160 CFM and have a 6.5 sone rating, for quiet operation. With this kitchen range hood, you have the option of ducting vertically or horizontally. The mitered sides and hemmed bottom ensure safety and clearance of the cabinet door. Keyhole mounting slots make the range hood easier to install. The range hoods are available in White, Almond or Brushed Stainless Steel to match any kitchen.
This is a bare-bones range hood, best for installs that don't require outside venting.
Absolutely bog-standard (to the point that the screws from our original 1987 Kenmore range hood perfectly matched, making replacement a breeze.)
The fan is however exceptionally loud and in a vent-less situation has no exit ports. It is literally useless, except as a light source above the range.
For less than 40 bucks, it's a bargain and looks nicer than the hood it replaced, but otherwise it is exactly what it claims to be.
I installed the hood by myself last night. It took about an hour - maybe not quite that long. The toughest part was lifting it up to secure to the top part of the space left by the previous version. Once I got that problem solved, it was easy. The problem I had wasn't one I would suspect that everyone would have. The screws put into the wood to hold up the hood with the nice slots created in the sheet metal were actually in some less than supporting material. My problem, not the hood's.
I ordered the hood because I have installed the same one in a rental & it works well. I was not happy with the packaging, content was sliding all over the place. Also, it was a returned item it had already been put together & was missing the mounting bolts. If I had not needed it right then, I would have returned it. This was a first for me.
I just received it.
I replaced my old newton one in less than 20 minutes.
Much more quiet thant the old one. In fact I was even stunned by the low noise of the low speed.
Better scution power than the old one, probably due to a different flap system than the old one and a little more speed and smoothness of the new motor.
Very pleased with my purchase !
I was looking for something that had no plastic cover vent at the front, because grease seeps out of there with time. I tried to find one like this in hardware stores, but found non. Glad to have bought it on Amazon, it works great !
