Did a kitchen remodel and we needed a new gas cooktop. I did my research and found this Frigidaire 36" in black which matches all of our appliances and was highly rated not mention the striking appearance. It looks beautiful in our huge island surrounded by our dark "leather" look granite. The pluses: the pot boiler center burner will give you a boiling pot of water almost immediately and the spacious 5 burners are a must after having a 4 burner unit prior to this one and did I mention how great this unit looks?
Now for the only (but big) downside, this is a pain in the a** to clean! the knobs are pretty close together and the grates are kind of heavy for my Wife to remove to clean the surface underneath the grates. I normally just use a soapy sponge to wipe it down and a towel to remove any streaking but now I have to follow-up with Windex and paper towels to give it that "clean" look. You may say, you knew what you were getting into when you purchased a black appliance, black is probably the toughest to keep clean but it is also very bold and looks great when it is clean. The biggest complaint would be the design of the burner knobs, they are too close together so it' hard to get to the tight space between them. So that's a poor design area and they may want to give the space about an inch between them to make it easier to clean.
Overall, it's a very nice unit and it excels at what it's meant to do but it's a booger to keep clean easily. In spite of that inconvenience, I highly recommend this cooktop.
If you like to cook, it is worth spending a few hundred more to get this bigger BTU burner. This center burner will bring a pot of water to a full boil in minutes or we used it as a wok burner with great results. Amazing...yeah it is an overused word today, but fits this description.
We bought this cook top to replace a 20+ year old black gas on glass cook top with 5 individual burners that bite the dust. Debated whether to go with the stainless or black finish. Stayed with the black and we decided it "hides cooking messes between clean ups better than the stainless version. The control knobs are plastic, not metal as somebody review had said. They work fine, easy to use and are right where I want them to be when cooking. We never had any Frigidaire control knob break, but we are not concerned as replacements if ever needed are easy to buy on Amazon or E bay. We LOVE the full metal grates. They are heavy due to their size but nice to slide pans across the stove top or set pans aside of the burner while cooking. Also the full grads are nice as you can set a plate/serving dish on them if needed or staging something to put in the overhead microwave. One note I have to make is the top of the cook top grates are 2-1/4" higher than the counter it sits on. I missed checking on this dimension and had a concern when installing it as we had the recommended 18" clearance between our kitchen counter and the bottom of the kitchen cabinets. Now we have 15-3/4" clearance between the top of the grates and the bottom of the cabinets. My concern was did we have enough space for cooking and have the over the counter microwave fan function correctly? After using the cook top for 2+ weeks with a large 10 qt pot we have had no clearance or ventilating problems. We have always found Frigidaire appliances to be a good value, have a lot of useful features and they have held up as well as any of the other major name brands. We buy/sell houses for 30 years and usually install Frigidaire appliances if needed. None of our tenants or house buyers have ever complained about the appliances or reported they needed repairs.
Pretty good. It's hooked on LPG so I used the converter that's included.
Youou really need to watch out for those rubber feet on the grills. Once it's lost, your grill will/may scratch the stove finish. They fall off easily. They should really include extras on each unit.
I contacted manufacturer and they mailed me around 8 rubber feet and a rather big tube of silicone. I wish they had just mailed more of the feet and left me to purchase my own glue. I’ve already used 3 since then. WATCH ‘EM FEET!
We started a warranty replacement part request for our cooktop on April 15, 2019. The warranty replacement was approved April 17, 2019. A total of SEVEN, yes SEVEN, replacements have been sent and all have been defective! The repair man has been very nice and apologetic however this is getting untenable. On June 5, 2019 we were told a supervisor would call us within one week. So far nothing! our patience is wearing very thin.
Update: After months of frustration we received an email stating since apparently they were unable to satisfy the pending situation (which by the way is cracking around in the black ceramic around the burners & even some of the replacements had chipping & cracking in various areas) that would refund the purchase so we could purchase from another vender. Well that's just wonderful....NOT....Now they want me to try and find a cooktop that has the same cut out size in the counter....grrr
Interestingly enough while all this is taking place someone finally decided it would be a good idea to replace the entire cooktop rather than just the black ceramic/metal top piece. After months we were excited to think this has come to an end. So was this happy ending we had hoped for from the very beginning? Although the new cook was great a first, I'm sad to say within four months the very same thing happen again!
With out a doubt the worst customer service & poorest quality product I think I have ever ran across!
All I can say is " you have been warned"!
The new house we bought had a ceramic electric cook top that I knew I wanted to replace. Amazon had this in stock where my local dealers did not. Love the design of the grates and the fact they are dishwasher safe. The base of the cooktop is easy to clean. I find I use the 18K burner the most--either with my cast iron skillet or my wok. It was easy to install. We did have to modify the drawer underneath the cooktop to accomodate for the gas hook up, but we'd had to modify a previous installation of a different brand at our old house, so not an issue.

Gallery 36" Black Gas Sealed Burner Cooktop
We replaced our 4 burner 30” Whirlpool gas cooktop with the 5 burner Frigidaire Gallery. I ordered from Amazon fulfilled by “Woot.” None of the local vendors had one available. I was concerned that other reviewers had broken grill tops. Ours arrived ahead of schedule and in perfect condition. And, it was much less expensive than the listings at HD & BB. I got the black as it’s easier to keep clean than stainless. We did not want to re-template our granite counters. The width fit and I had a carpenter cut 3/4” or so off the back to conform the depth opening to fit. The cooktop comes set for natural gas. I had my licensed heating guys stop by to convert it to use with propane. I may have them back to lower the “low” settings as they are hotter than needed for that setting. It’s a beautiful cooktop. We love the fast boil large burner in the center. We’ve been using it for a few weeks and so far, we are pleased. While we needed professional help with the installation, we are happy with our choice. I’m glad I took a chance on “Woot”. It worked for us. This cooktop is a great upgrade if not re-doing the entire kitchen.
The middle burner is awesome! It helps water boil very quickly and cooks food fast. The other burners work like normal while that middle on has more power to it. It is easy to clean and looks nice. I would recommend measuring the exact space you want this in rather than a pre-existing stove that is there though. It almost didn’t fit in our space because we made that mistake.
I found this deal on Amazon when shopping for a new cook-top and it arrived as advertised, on time, and with no missing parts or pieces. The installation was easy and the instructions were easy to follow for someone who has never installed a stove before. Total installation time for this was under 30 minutes. The only negative I can add is that the metal framing around the outside portion of the stove-top feels very flimsy and cheap, and I suspect it would easily be bent or broken by a heavy pan or one of the cast iron grates dropped on it. Even with this in mind, I don't think you can beat the value!
